Locals relish election victories
Member activism supports friends of education!
Winners of county races across the state had Local Associations and MSTA to thank for their victories. Read about the big wins in Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and Queen Anne's:

In Charles County, which had a school board dominated by opponents of public education, 5 of 7 winning candidates were heavily supported by the Local, EACC;

Howard County's incumbent, Senator Sandra Schrader, was defeated by challenger Jim Robey, a strong supporter of public education;

Sue Hecht, former delegate and strong champion of public schools in Frederick County, returns to the House of Delegates;

Six of 8 school board candidates recommended by Prince George's County Educators' Association (with one race still undecided at press time) won their races, and PGCEA helped return the county to an all-elected school board;

In Montgomery County, the Local played a significant role in electing Marc Elrich, a member and school building rep, to an at-large seat on the County Council;

Winning Republican candidates endorsed by MSTA and its Locals included David Craig for Harford County executive and delegates Bob Costa (Anne Arundel), Sue Krebs (Carroll), Rick Weldon (Frederick) and Barry Glassman (Harford); and
-
Thanks to a strong grassroots effort by the Local, QACEA, the Queen Anne's County Commission now has a pro-public education majority.
