It’s my association. It’s your association. Together, we make a difference

I believe that we can serve as change agents. To do this one must be willing to learn about the history of the organization and be involved in the decisions that the organization makes to lead us in new directions and heights. My involvement with the association began because another delegate became my mentor and explained the value of this democratic process. I wanted to make my voice heard, so I ran as a delegate for the state and national convention. Eventually, I became the Treasurer of my local. My motto is, “It’s my association. It’s your association. Together, we make a difference.”
My passion is education; I love what I do. I feel it is critical that policymakers use research-based ideas and strategies as foundations for bills. Therefore, my ability to share my expertise helps to better assure that our profession moves to greater heights. So think...do you want to have a greater impact in your field? If the answer is yes, find another activist and begin the conversation about advocacy for quality teaching and learning. I hope to see you at the next convention.
