I’m here in Ocean City and staying at Ocean Suites where lots of MSTA delegates are as well and what excitement to get in the elevator last night with President Clara Floyd! I introduced her to my daughter and mother!

Last night I went to the reception and the food was awesome and the entertainment was good.

Our ACTA President, Valerie Arch, had a meeting from 8-9 this morning with all of our delegates from the Western Maryland delegation. We discussed the people who are running for different offices at the RA.

This is my third year, and it’s awesome meeting all the MSTA leaders. It’s important to be here to take back information to our count. Since Western Maryland is so small, it’s nice to be part of MSTA, meet other ESP members. You get so motivated to take things back. Having input into the Association and the direction we take is important to me.

I’m off to the RA!

Wow! I just heard NEA President Reg Weaver and what a motivating speaker!! He emphasized the importance of our vote. He also talked about how students have changed in the classroom. They used to fear their teachers, principals and now they fear no one. You cannot simply say sit down and shut up. You have to have something to offer the students. He spoke about 20 minutes and energized the room!

10/21/06 - 11:30 a.m.

Well, Let's talk about Friday night at Seacrets! The band was excellent and the dance floor was rockin' with teachers and ESP from all over Maryland. The food and drinks were superb! What a way for teachers to have fun!

One of my favorite highlights of the morning was listening to the newly elected teacher of the year, Michelle Hammond. What a babydoll!

One of the fun times of the MSTA Convention is the coming together of people from your county for meetings and voting for amendments. Even though we don't agree on everything, we all come together at the end of voting. What an enjoyable convention!
